Datar Hill is a special place in the city of Junagadh, Gujarat. It is right in front of another big mountain called Girnar Mountain. Dargah of Jamial Shah Datar – Datar Hill

At the top of Datar Hill, 2,780 feet high, is a special place called the Dargah of Jamial Shah Datar. This makes Datar Hill a famous religious spot in the Saurashtra region. To reach the Dargah, you need to climb 3,000 steps starting from the Wellington Dam. The British built the Wellington Dam on the Kalwa River. Sometimes people also call Datar Mountain “Upla Datar.”

There are special stones on Datar Mountain called Nagariya stones. When you hit these stones, they make a sound like a drum. Many visitors find these stones very interesting to see.

During the rainy season, Datar Hill becomes even more beautiful because you can see waterfalls flowing down the hills. Tourists can also visit other interesting places like Chithriya Peer, Hathi Patthar, Koyla Vajir, and the Digambar Jain Bhagwan Neminath Temple while climbing the mountain.

Datar Hill is a lovely place to visit and spend time. Every day, many travelers come here to enjoy the scenery. From the top of Datar Peak, you can see a wonderful view of the city of Junagadh.

This special place is famous for its five-day Urs celebration, which is a big event every year. During these five days, at least 300,000 people come to visit the Datar shrine. This celebration shows how Muslims and Hindus share their cultures and customs.

On the first night of Urs, Muslims offer a special cloth called chaadar, while Hindus perform puja, which is a type of prayer. On this night, all the decorations that have been kept inside a cave all year are brought out for everyone to see.

Lower Daatar Darshan

At the bottom of Datar Hill, known as Nichla Datar, there is another special place called the Dargah of Jamiyal Shah Datar. This tomb has big, beautifully carved domes and short towers. People who are sick visit this dargah hoping to get better. There is also the Datar Mosque where Muslims pray five times a day.

Nichla Datar feels very holy and peaceful. It is close to the city. Both Hindus and Muslims come here to worship and pray together.

The best time to visit Datar Parvat is in October to January. Datar Parvat is open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. It’s best to climb Datar Parvat in the morning.

There is no fee to visit Datar Mountain. It is completely free.

To go to Datar Mountain, you can take an auto from the bus station or the train station.
