The tallest statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the country’s Home Minister, has been built in Gujarat. Its height is 182 meters and it stands on Sadhu Bet island near Sardar Sarovar Dam in Narmada district.

24000 tonnes of iron were used to build the Statue of Unity in a 45-month period. This statue takes up 20,000 square meters of area. Rs 2989 crore has been spent in making the statue of Sardar Patel.

The Statue of Unity is open every day of the week from 9 am to 6 pm. With entry, one can visit Valley of Flowers, Sardar Patel Memorial, Museum, Audio-Visual Gallery along with Statue of Unity Site and Sardar Sarovar Dam.

To see the Statue of Unity, you can book online tickets as well as offline tickets. The ticket fee to visit the Statue of Unity ranges from Rs 60 to Rs 350.

There is a system of laser lighting in the statue, which remains bright day and night. High speed lifts have been installed at the feet of the statue, through which one can reach a height of 400 feet and have darshan of the statue.

A 153 meter long gallery has been built near the Statue of Unity.

Who is Design Statue Of Unity

The Gujarat government gave the responsibility of preparing the first digital model of the Statue of Unity to Joseph Maina. Joseph Maina is an American 3D Statue Maker.

In 2011, Ram V Sutar awarded Padma Bhushan was appointed to prepare the model of the Statue of Unity. The design of this statue was prepared by Ram Sutar. Ram Sutar has created more than 40 monumental sculptures in the last 40 years.

Statue of Unity Cost

Initially the Government of India had assured Rs 3000 crore for the cost of this project.
Later, Larsen & Toubro Company (L&T) won the project by making the lowest bid of Rs 2989 crore. which also included the design, construction and maintenance of this building.
